چکیده

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the major nutritional bases mankind and animals worldwide; however, infestations by aphids are main cause that severely affects wheat production in Pakistan around world. In 2021-22 population densities Sitobion avenae their mummified were studied on crop under field conditions at University Research Farm, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi. About eight quadrats taken each day from whole weekly basis numbers counted visually plant part (stems, leaves, spikes) individually. Seasonal mean aphid morphs revealed found significantly different among winged, adults, nymphs, mummies (F5, 551 = 8.38, P 0.000; F5, 14.80, 24.13, 18.30, 0.000 respectively). Significantly greater recorded spikes (29.23 ± 1.14) as compared to those leaves (8.46 0.68) stems (0.37 0.05). The overall combined comparison was observed non-significant between adult, nymph, (F7, 0.20, 0.984; F7, 0.07, 0.999; 0.08, 0.50, 0.829 respectively) crop. Therefore, S. peak timing reported this study will be helpful a critical infestation period for scheduling management practices

Ecological impact of a secondary bacterial symbiont on the clones of Sitobion avenae (Fabricius) (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Many insects harbor heritable endosymbionts, whether obligatory or facultative, and the role of facultative endosymbionts in shaping the phenotype of these species has become increasingly important. However, little is known about whether micro-injected endosymbionts can have any effects on aphid clones, which was measured using various ecological parameters. We examined the effects between symb...

Testing the fecundity advantage hypothesis with Sitobion avenae, Rhopalosiphum padi, and Schizaphis graminum (Hemiptera: Aphididae) feeding on ten wheat accessions

The fecundity advantage hypothesis suggests that females with a large body size produce more offspring than smaller females. We tested this hypothesis by exploring the correlations between life-history traits of three aphid species feeding on ten wheat accessions at three levels of analysis with respect to the host plant: overall, inter-accession, and intra-accession. We found that fecundity wa...

Assessment of Sublethal and Transgenerational Effects of Pirimicarb on the Wheat Aphids Rhopalosiphum padi and Sitobion avenae

The wheat aphids, Rhopalosiphum padi (Linnaeus) and Sitobion avenae (Fabricius), are key pests on wheat crops worldwide. Management practices rely primarily on insecticides. The pirimicarb (carbamate) is used extensively as an effective insecticide to control these two aphids. In addition to the mortality caused by pirimicarb, various sublethal effects may occur in aphids when exposed to low le...

The Occurrence of Two Species of Entomophthorales (Entomophthoromycota), Pathogens of Sitobion avenae and Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae), in Tunisia

The natural occurrence of entomophthoralean fungi pathogenic towards aphids on cereal and potato crops was investigated in the years 2009, 2010, and 2011. Infected aphids were sampled in three bioclimatic zones in Tunisia (Beja, Cap bon, and Kairouan) and fungal species were determined based on morphological characters such as shape, size, and number of nuclei in the primary conidia. Polymerase...

Effects of Wheat-Maize Intercropping on Population Dynamics of Wheat Aphids and Their Natural Enemies

To study the effects of wheat-maize intercropping on the population dynamics of wheat aphids and their natural enemies, wheat-maize intercropping patterns were divided into four levels: 8:2, 6:2, and 4:2 intercropping, and monoculture wheat. The results showed that as the wheat coverage rate decreased, the quantities of immigrating winged aphids and their natural enemies significantly differed;...
